ORTHOPAEDICS & TRAUMATOLOGY

The unit has been established in June 1996. The section has been expanding its number of doctors and services due to an increase of patients. Today it consists of  4 medical doctors ,two physiotherapists, two anesthesiologists, four surgery nurses, ten service and surgery nurses.The unit works 24 hours non-stop and is considered as one of the most hectic and successful Orthopaedics & Traumatology surgery centers in Turkey. The department performs cruciate ligament surgery, surgery for minuscus injuries, and mosaic plasty surgery for articular cartillage damage. 

MICRO SURGERY

At the micro surgery department most of the operations are hand surgery and the department gives treatment of obstetrical and traumatic acute injuries, secular injuries and performs cerebral palsy surgery and vascularised bone transfers.

OBSTETRICS & MATERNITY

The Obstetrical Department provides an obstetric doctor that gives all types of gynecological diagnosis and treatment such as menstrual disorders, treatment of fibroids. Diagnosis of infections, as well as ovulation induction fertility treatment are being performed with the latest technology .

The “ Maternity Unit ” has a nurse staff whom are well trained in all clinical aspects of childbirth. Expectant mothers are informed on their health in full detail and can see their baby by ultrasound. Medical conditions which can become harmful for the mother and the baby such as high blood presurre ,diabetes, abnormalities during pregnancy are closely monitored and are diagnosed for treatment. Expectant mothers and their babies are treated with upmost care at the Maternity Unit to make the birth experience as stress free as possible.

 For family planning issues, the center provides subcutaneous implant (Implanon), monthly or on three month basis hormone (miroma) injections are being offered as well as hystresalpingo (HSG) and Intra Uterine İnsemination services are being offered. The Maternity Unit has:

· Maternity Room- Full function room designed for vaginal or cesarean delivery

CARDIOLOGY

Çankaya Hospital has been recognized in Turkey for its success in cardiology. The hospital continues to provide its cardiology services with the aim of offering all patients complete methods on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart disease. Today, the unit has two well known cardiologists whom are specialized in all aspects of cardiovascular disease and continiously provide patients with care.

All types of medical treatments such as Angioplasty, balloon angioplasty for myocardial infarctions, and stent implantation are being performed. Yearly approxiamately 3000 angioplasty operations take place in the hospital. Cardiac disease patients are diagnosed and are treated efficiently by the use of  latest technology. The department is open for 24 hrs.

A coronary angioplasty treatment is a balloon-tipped catheter which is inserted to the blocked vessel and then inflated, after which a stent (tiny tube) is placed to ease open the artery thus preventing a fatal  recurrence of the artery or vessel blockage.

The hospital’s cardiology outpatient clinic services offer echo cardiography, treadmill stress echocardiography, electrocardiogram tests for patients. The hearts electrical activity is examined with ultrasound and echocardiography to diagnose any empairement of the hearts function. With stress echocardiography the hearts functional capacity and muscle ischemia or dead tissue are diagnosed. With these tests our doctors examine the heart rhytmn, pace, and ischemia.

INVASIVE CARDIOLOGY

Invasive cardiology procedures such as coronary angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker implementations, are successfully carried out by the cardiology  medical team which consists of 3 M.D, 3 technicians, and 3 nurses.

EPS- Electrophysiologic Study  is performed by threading thin plastic tubes catheters  into a vein where the leg connects to the abdomen by the aid of a local anesthetic. The catheters are then passed under fluoroscopic guidance into the heart. These catheters measure the electrical signals generated by the heart. With this procedure, the MD gathers a detailed analysis rather than an electrocardiogram (ECG). The catheters  pace the heart. The electrical conduction system of the heart is measured and the doctor observes  if there are abnormal heart rhythms . After the results of the EPS the medical team decides whether a patient needs a pacemaker. EPS also determines whether past treatment for a fast heart rhythm has been satisfactory for the patient.

CARDIO VASCULAR SURGERY

Cardio vascular diseases affect the heart and blood vessels and include arteriosclerosis, coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, arrhytmia, heart failure, hypertension, orthostatic hypotension, shock, endocarditis, diseases of the aorta and its branches, disorders of the peripheral vascular system, and congenital heart disease.

In Cardio Vascular Surgery, the hospital has two fully equipped operation rooms and in a duration of one day 4 to 6 open heart operations take place. Patients are hospitalised one day before the operation and can leave the hospital after 5 to 7 days of rest and medical care. Operations such as coronary by-pass, heart valve surgery, congenital heart disease surgery, artery surgery, carotid artery surgery take place . After surgery patients are taken to intensive care unit which is open for 24 hrs. and is supervised by 5 M.D’s, and 9 nurses, 5 personnel.

Cardio vascular cases among other medical conditions still hold the number one reason for the mortality rate in Turkey. To serve patients with cardio vascular conditions the hospital established its cardio vascular unit under the directives and control of Turkish Ministry of Health in 1998. Following  contracts with Turkish public organizations such as SSK,Emekli Sandığı and Bagkur and private insurance companies the hospital receives and operates around 5000 open heart surgeries a year.

The coronary intensive care unit consists of 12 patient beds, and the patients are monitored hemodynamically. 2 M.D’s, 7 nurses and 2 personnel are in charge of the unit which serves 24 hours.

ANESTHESIOLOGY & ANESTHETICS & REANIMATION

The hospital has a total of 8 anesthesiology doctors and four anesthesist  technicians to administer anesthetics during all kinds of  surgery performed. The department is open for 24 hours.

INTERNALIST & NEPHROLOGY

 At the nephrology out patients clinic medical cases of long term systemic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension), obesity, osteoporosis, peptic ulcer, renal stone, infectious diseases and diseases of the liver, , upper respitory tract infections, chest pain (angina pectoris), renal failure are treated.

Laboratory tests which are required such as urine and gaita, blood tests, as well as ECG, echodiography, and ultrasonography give results within one day.

OUT PATIENTS CLINIC SERVICES

The hospital has an outpatients clinic which provides all types of medical examination tests for the patients. The outpatients clinic services of Cankaya Hospital are :

- Internalist –Nephrology

- Cardiology Examination and diagnosis

- Orthopaedics and Traumatology

- Obstetrics & Maternity check up

- Laboratory which provides Biochemical, Microbiological, hematology, hormone tests, Serology, İmmunology, tumour  tests and medical tests.

X-ray, ultrasonography, color doppler and Echogram as well as effort treadmill tests are performed for patients.

NURSE DEPARTMENT

The nurse department consists of a thoughtfull team of 63  nurses whom are aware of the importance of their responsibility during  patient treatment and medical surveillance. To realise quality nurse services the team is directed by a  nurse director. 

The principle aim of our nurses is to make sure that all patients are monitored and that their treatment and medical care is done with excellence and that each patient leaves the hospital cured.

GENERAL SURGERY

The General surgery department consists of one M.D and the following treatment and operations take place:

Acute abdomen and apandicitis surgery, breast disease diagnosis and treatment, laporoscopic surgery, abdomen surgery, post surgery, hernia treatment, biopsies and removal of cysts, thyroid disease treatment and treatment of all parotid diseases, gall bladder laporoscopic surgery, and pancreas surgery.
